Fergie really looking forward to playing against old pal Walter Smith and Rangers

Walter Smith was Fergie’s assistant briefly at the end of 2003-04 season. They both seem to be very fond of each other and are already making plans to meet up. Fergie told:

“Walter Smith’s already been on the phone, talking about tickets for Old Trafford! Like me, he’s really looking forward to our games against each other.”

Moreover, Fergie’s Rangers connection is also sound as he’s played for, as well as managed the Scottish champions.

The United manager seems to be overall satisfied with the draw:

“You can’t complain about that, it’s a good draw for us. You always look at the travelling side of it and the only one that’s of any great distance is the trip to Turkey.”
