Alan Smith and Joey Barton to shave moustache only if Newcastle beat ManUtd + ‘Magpie Moustache Challenge’ video

Alan Smith, Andy Carroll, Ryan Taylor and Joey Barton have decided not to shave their tash until they win a Premier league match. Starting with their opening match against ManUtd, the Magpies will be looking to get off to a good start. It remains to be seen if this extra bit of motivation can do any good to our old rivals.

Barton explained how they came up with this idea: “It started out with about eight of us getting together and we were saying to each other, ‘you couldn’t grow a beard’. One thing led to another and before I knew it, I’d agreed to grow a moustache.

‘It could be here for a while longer if we don’t get off to a good start – but hopefully it’ll be gone soon. It’s got a bit of flak and a few people have said it’s ridiculous.’
