Ronaldo wins it injury time with a beauty! ManUtd 2-1 Sporting Lisbon
CRISTIANO RONALDO fired a brilliant late winner to seal top spot in Group F for Manchester United. Hence United are only team at this stage to have maximum 15 points from 5 games.
United had looked like needing a draw in Rome next week, with the score locked at 1-1 going into injury time. But Ronaldo fired a stunning free-kick from 25 yards to send Old Trafford into raptures.
Earlier, striker Carlos Tevez had come off the bench to level the scores on the hour. United, already through to the knockout stages, had fallen behind to a 21st-minute strike by Sporting’s Abel. The right-back spotted keeper Tomasz Kuszczak off his line and drilled a low shot in at the near post. But Tevez was on hand to knock in a shot from Ronaldo and set up an intense last half-hour, capped off by the Portguese’s thumping late winner.
