Ryan Giggs has received the backing of team-mate Paul Scholes in the build-up to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year – an award you could help him to win.

The Reds’ record appearance-maker has been named on the ten-strong shortlist for the annual accolade, alongside the likes of F1 champion Jenson Button, boxer David Haye and tennis ace Andy Murray. A public vote will decide who wins the prestigious honour – the number for you to call will be announced during a live broadcast this Sunday night.

Scholes told us, “Ryan just keeps going from strength to strength and has been fantastic to play with. I’m not sure he’ll just be up there with the great players – I think he’ll be the one and only. To be here for 20 years and still be as strong and as fit as ever and playing as well as ever, I think he can be the only one to really stand out.”
