This seems a custom in London clubs, their players deny handshakes to their former team-mates. Just like last season Wayne Bridge refused to shake hands with Chelsea skipper John Terry, Nasri did the same to former Arsenal no.10 William Gallas before the North-London derby today.

Video: Michael Owen wins penalty after getting booed by Liverpool fans during Carragher testimonial

The ‘loyal’ crowd of Anfield booed Michael Owen as he retuned to their stadium for the Jamie Carragher Testimonial. Owen won a penalty for Liverpool, but Carragher explains why he was forced to deny Owen of this opportunity to score at his old club:

“I asked the referee to give us a penalty before half-time because I was thinking about Michael as I wanted him to score – I totally forgot that people would want me to take one,” said Carragher. “He’s my best mate in football and I think it took a lot of courage to come back today and do it for me knowing he would take a lot of stick. But I think the crowd would have killed him if he’d taken the penalty listening to their reaction.”

Mr.Liverpool Jamie Carragher rules out title chance already! Just three games into the season but it seems that Mr.Liverpool is already sensing what lies ahead for his club. Carragher is fully aware that lack of silverware is not something to be proud of, but thinks the league is still out of his side’s reach. However, he does think Liverpool is capable of making a good cup run.

Carlos Tevez gave United fans an opportunity to laugh at him and ManCity as he missed a sitter in front of open goal. Sunderland left it late, and went on to win the match 1-0. Surely the miss of the week!
