ManUtd Transfer Deadline Day News – August 2010

August 31, 2010

(This page will be constantly updated till the transfer window deadline is reached)

United are not expected to make any big signings on the final day of the transfer window, but that does not stop the media from linking big and not-so-big names with the club. So here is the latest gossip and confirmed news related to United in the transfer market:

Coming in:

Emile Heskey - Now this one has to be one of the funniest rumor ever. Some quarters say United will bid for Heskey, and with Heskey being Rooney’s preferred strike partner for England, this could be a deadly combination. As if Rooney + Heskey won the World Cup this summer? That’s not all, Carrick will also be offered alongwith £4 million cash.

Jack Rodwell - Carrick + £10 million cash for Rodwell? Again seems unlikely to me.

Lee Cattermole - United are looking to sign the Sunderland player according to some media reports.

Steven Defour - Sky Sports thinks United are lining up a bid for the Standard Liege midfielder.

Going out:

Tom Cleverley - not really transfer deadline related, but the starlet is set to join Wigan on loan. (confirmed)

Michael Carrick - according to some rumors he is heading to Everton as part of the Jack Rodwell deal, and others think he is heading to Aston Villa in a swap deal for Heskey.
