Vidic plays captain and policeman for a day!

Dejan Stankovic’s absence meant Nemanja Vidic was standing in as captain for Serbia’s friendly against New Zealand on Saturday. After Vidic’s team went into the break a goal down, angry Serbian fans started to riot during the second half. Flares and missiles were thrown onto the field, and some fans even invaded the pitch. Just when the New Zealand team was ready to walk off the pitch, Vidic took control of the situation and used a stadium microphone to appeal the Serbian fans to calm down.

The match did restart and New Zealand went to win 1-0.

Jose Mourinho has revealed Rooney as the player he would most like to sign for his new club Real Madrid. However, he knows it is near to impossible that the Englishman will leave Old Trafford. Mourinho has already declared Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Ashley Cole as his transfer targets.

Home Office accepts Chicharito is ‘exceptional talent’ and grants him work permit

The last hurdle in Chicharito’s arrival at Old Trafford has been cleared. United signed the young Mexican in April, but he was not eligible to play in England without a work permit. As Javier Hernandez has not played 75% of Mexico’s games during the last two years, it was feared that the Home Office might not clear him. United presented their case in front of a FA panel based on the argument that he is an ‘exceptional talent’. The panel has accepted United’s plea and a work permit has now been granted.
